Surfrider Foundation Australia was founded in 1991 to protest poor water quality issues on Australia’s east coast.

Local surfers, being at the forefront of water quality, began a series of demonstrations to persuade decision makers to take action. The organisation has been working hard to protect Australia’s coastlines ever since.

Made up of everyday people who want to ensure future generations can enjoy the coast just as we have, Surfrider Foundation Australia’s mission is to protect 100% of Australia's coastlines. Forever.
